— FAQ

Frequently asked
questions

Q.When is the best time to visit Zanzibar?

Zanzibar can be enjoyed year-round, but the dry season from June to October is the most comfortable (25–28°C with low humidity). December–February is also great beach weather. In the long rains (April–May) and the short rains (November) there are more short, heavy showers.

Q.Can I combine Zanzibar with a safari?

Yes — our 'Safari & Zanzibar 10 Days' combination is very popular. After a northern safari, it's about a 1.5-hour domestic flight from Arusha to Zanzibar. Excitement on safari, then rest on the beach: the classic route.

Q.Which beach do you recommend?

Nungwi and Kendwa in the north-east have outstanding water clarity, ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Paje and Jambiani on the east coast are laid-back and popular with kitesurfers. Near Stone Town in the west you can combine culture and beach.

Q.What can I do in Stone Town?

The classics are walking the UNESCO-listed old town, watching the sunset from a dhow cruise, Freddie Mercury's birthplace, Swahili food at the night market, the former slave market and a spice farm tour. You can cover them in half a day to a day.

Q.Is Zanzibar good for a honeymoon?

It's extremely popular. We offer honeymoon plans with private villas, sunset dhow cruises, beach dinners for two and spa treatments. On 'Zanzibar Honeymoon 6 Days' we can also arrange special surprises.

Q.What about visas and vaccinations?

Zanzibar is part of the United Republic of Tanzania, so the same visa covers it. Requirements depend on your nationality — many visitors can apply for an e-Visa online or get a visa on arrival. A yellow fever certificate is required if you arrive from a yellow fever risk country, and malaria prevention is recommended. Please check the latest official information for your passport before you travel.
